On Friday 12 July, Hellesdon High School held the annual Staff Triathlon to help raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust.
We had 35 members of staff signed up for the 500m swim, 15km cycle and the 3K run, which made for our most competitive triathlon to date. It was a hugely successful event, and we would like to thank everyone who took part – be it by running, cycling, swimming, supporting and/or donating!
The first staff triathlon took place back in 2013, to support our Year 9 student Emily Hinde, who was undergoing treatment for cancer at the time. Despite making a recovery, Emily very sadly lost her battle in 2018. So this year, the trophy was renamed ‘The Emily Hinde Memorial Trophy’ and we were very grateful to have it presented to the winners by Emily’s mother and sister.
Congratulations to our winners:
It is with immense pride that we can say Hellesdon High School has raised in excess of £5,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust, since 2013. We intend to continue adding to this figure, in Emily’s memory, for years to come.
We are not far from reaching our £1,000 target this year and the Just Giving page will be accessible until the end of July, so if you would like to contribute (even if it’s just a pound) then please do so soon!
A special thanks go to Mr Life and Mr Cook for organising the triathlon each year, and to all the volunteers behind the scenes.
