COMMITTEE STRUCTURE
our committees
In collaboration with the Head Teacher, the Governors of Hellesdon High School
determine the long-term governance of the School (with the Head and his Leadership Team responsible for the day-to-day running) through a number of committees.
Meeting most regularly are Finance and Premises, Teaching and Learning, chaired by Staff Governor Mrs Rosemary Swords, and the Sixth Form Committee. The most recently formed committee has been Policy Review (see the column on the right) chaired by Parent Governor Mrs Debra Griffiths.
Our appointed clerks are Mrs S. Norris (Clerk to Full Governors) and Mrs S. Warnes (Clerk to Governors' Committees). Clerks provide advice and interpretation on the regulatory and administrative framework in which Governors work, preparing and distributing minutes and agendas, keeping records and dealing with correspondence. Governors' minutes are available for inspection by application to the School.
Becoming a Governor at Hellesdon High
All types of people can become a Governor at Hellesdon High School. No special qualifications are required, but you must be 18 or over on the date when you are elected or appointed.
Enthusiasm, commitment and an interest in Education are the most important qualities. Parent Governors are always welcome, though you don't have to have a child at the School to become a Governor.
We particularly welcome new Governors who have transferable skills developed at work, or who have a particularly good understanding of the Community served by the School.
