Top marks!

In recent years we have celebrated hugely successful exam results, well above the national average.

Curriculum

Our students in Years 7-8 complete a series of engaging projects, taught in specialist facilities, to develop their skills and knowledge in Electronics, Graphics, Resistant Materials, Systems and Control, Food, and Fashion and Textiles Technology.

We pride ourselves on the range of GCSE and vocational courses we offer, which currently include GCSEs in Food Technology, Graphic Products and Resistant Materials, BTECs in Engineering and Construction, VTCT Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy and our most recent Fashion and Clothing.

In Years 12-13, students can take an A Level in Product Design Graphics or Resistant Materials Technology and a Level 3 qualification in BTEC Engineering. Aspirational Technologists can select more than one of these qualifications to enhance their experience.

We are proud not only of the exam success of individuals, but also the pathways we provide into jobs, careers and further education. Our Apprenticeship advertising board reflects this commitment, and has helped numerous students to identify and secure work placements in our local area.

Buildings and Resources

Our purpose-built and refurbished Technology rooms include 5 workshops and a resource and machining room: areas designed for specialist teaching in Engineering, Electronics, Resistant Materials and Graphics. Textiles and Food Technology are accommodated in their own specialized rooms, with adjacent ICT facilities.

We have an exterior workshop and covered area for Construction lessons, and a state-of-the-art Hairdressing and Beauty salon. Our resources have been continually enhanced to ensure a balance between traditional manufacturing methods and modern computer-aided techniques. They include four laser cutters, a 3D milling machine, card/vinyl cutters and computer-controlled embroidery.

Enrichment

Our extra-curricular opportunities for HHS students and those from local schools have helped cement the place of Technology in the local community. Exciting events and competitions take place throughout the academic year, and all students at KS3 have the chance to take part in the Active Kids 'Get Cooking!' scheme.

Parents, businesses and governors can celebrate our students' successes at our periodic exhibitions. After-school clubs and holiday sessions support pupils in the completion of project work, and the Arkwright Scholarship scheme has provided opportunities for A level students to perform exceptionally well at national level.
