Music – Year 9
Music Curriculum for Year 9
Students follow Rockschool Level 2 in Performance and mainly explore rehearsal skills and performance during Year 9.
They have the creative space to work in bands or as solo artists, preparing for half-termly performances which build up their repertoire. Each performance is recorded to enable them to evaluate and recognise areas needing improvement.
During this year, students set frequent targets to improve their practical skills and reflect and review regularly. They are encouraged to keep a rehearsal diary to show progress, and record themselves periodically to show examiners how they are improving.
Along with practical work, they also start their Organise a Music Event coursework, where they devise and pitch an idea for a music event to the school’s leadership team, then begin to organise the event and see it through to completion in Year 10.
