Music – Year 7
Music Curriculum for Year 7
Outline of Year 7 Music
In Year 7 Music, students begin by explore singing and performing in groups, and the role of accompaniment parts. They learn chords on keyboard and ukulele and have the chance to work independently in small groups. Students explore improvisation by looking at music from different cultures and practically engage in samba, African drumming and Blues.
In the summer term, students explore a range of short projects including Podcasting using music technology, compose programme music and band skills. Each lesson they refine their listening skills through a broad range of musical styles, and develop their musical language by responding to and explaining what they hear.
