Engineering – BTEC
BTEC Engineering students follow a programme of units that cover Health and Safety in the workshop using a wide range of equipment and materials. The practical work consists of processes such as plasma cutting and welding metal. Manufacturing and finishing of products is recorded in manufacturing plans which list the tools and equipment used along with photographic evidence of tasks undertaken.
Other units involve disassembly of products to find out how they are made and investigations into materials and production techniques. The wider engineered world is also studied to enable success in the examination part of the course.
