Thank you for taking time to visit our website, Hellesdon.net. If you are in this area of the site you may be thinking about joining our community in some capacity, so I would like to take this opportunity to give you some information about Hellesdon High School.
For almost a decade now, Hellesdon has celebrated its status as a Specialist Technology College. This specialism has been one of the reasons for the School making such good progress since its first designation in 2003. While continuing to recognize the great achievements in this area of our curriculum, I would add that every department in this School, in my view, is a specialist department with highly-qualified, motivated and excellent practitioners. We became a Leading Edge Academy on 1 April 2012.
The School buildings are in good condition, with the addition of a £4.5m new building project added in 2007 to accommodate our first Year 7 in September 2007. There are ample playing fields, a 3G all-weather pitch and a sports hall also added in 2007. We take pride in our immediate environment and more globally, and the School has the highest eco award, the Green Flag.
The School offers a broad and balanced curriculum at KS3, and a wide range of GCSEs and vocational courses at KS4. The Sixth Form offers an excellent selection of AS, A2 and BTec courses and works in partnership with Taverham High School to maximize the available options. 2011 results broke all records with 84% achieving 5A*-C and 67% 5A*-C including English and maths. In the Sixth Form the average score per student was 787.
This is only the start! Hellesdon is ambitious and hungry for more success so that our students can achieve their potential and take their place in the technological and multicultural society of the 21st Century. If you want to join us, contact the School, and I or a member of our Leadership Team will show you around and answer any questions you may have.
