Extended Schools prize draw

The names of all those parents and carers who responded to our Extended Schools consultation at the end of November were entered into a prize draw.

We are delighted to announce the results of the draw: family cinema tickets go to…

Bridget Reasbeck, Julie Summers and Donna Leeder.

Thank you very much for your feedback – and enjoy your films!

Academy Status Update

The School has now received an Academy Order from the Secretary of State for Education, Rt Hon Michael Gove. This means that if all the processes that have to be completed run smoothly and on time, the School will convert on 1 April 2012. I am very grateful to all the governors, parents and staff who have contributed to the process so far. There is still much to do, however, in a relatively short period of time, including the main tasks of:

• TUPE – Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment). This means transferring all staff contracts over to the new organisation
• Articles of Association. The new Academy has to be registered with Companies House
• Formation of the Hellesdon Academy Trust
• Various Land Registration procedures
• Insurance

There are many other tasks to be completed but those above drive the whole process. It is a very exciting time for the School as we move to the next stage in our development and our conversion to academy status will speed up this development to where we all want to be: an outstanding school which serves the needs of all its students.

Parent Support Advisor

The Hellesdon Cluster of schools has been without a PSA since July, but we are very pleased to announce the appointment of Nada Goodings as our new Parent Support Advisor. She starts in this role on 5 December, and will be based at Horsford Junior School.

The contact number for the PSA will remain the same: (01603) 898 975.

As you may have seen in the EDP, our Cluster is working in partnership with the Benjamin Foundation (this is where our ‘Time4You’ support workers are from). Whilst Nada will be working exclusively for our schools, she will also benefit from the additional support that the Benjamin Foundation has to offer. For more about the Foundation, visit: www.benjaminfoundation.co.uk
