Angels win big again

We played Hobart High School away on 24 October, and notched up another high score of 53-9.

The whole team played quite well, including some of our junior players.

Charlie and Rio rebounded very well.

However, we have some tough games coming up before Christmas, and we’ll have to up our game if we want to keep winning!

Angel of the Match: Francesca Williams (top scorer with 16 points)

Hellesdon Angels: flying start

On 15 October, the U16 girls’ basketball team played Sprowston, and won convincingly, 40-4.

A flying start to the season for the Angels!

Sprowston defended well, but had trouble scoring against us. Although we didn’t play our best basketball, we had a good game and the win was quite straightforward.

There were strong drives to the basket from Francesca (14 points), and Charlie (10 points) had her best game ever!

Angel of the Match: Charlie Banks

This is the pinnacle of the nationwide School Games competition for the best school-aged athletes in the UK, and the final day of events will take place in the Olympic Park, including the Olympic Stadium.

“This is a fantastic achievement which reflects not only the individual efforts of your pupil but also the support of your school in helping them balance their educational and sporting commitments,” writes Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP.  >>read the whole letter…

Well done, Gemma, and good luck at the Games!

Hellesdon Angels are back

The Hellesdon Angels

The Under-14 Basketball League is now under way, and the Angels are hoping to do well this season. They are training hard and playing harder! The story so far…

26 January: Thorpe St Andrew
We had a slow start to this game, and our passing and shooting let us down a little in the first quarter. However, Rosie began scoring frequently and Rio rebounded well to increase our tally of baskets. The whole team toughened up, and were all playing well by the second half. Some important defending by Katie stopped Thorpe’s best player from doing too much damage. The final score was a 32-12 win for us.

Angel of the Match: Rio Topley

1 February: Sprowston
We started the game strongly, and played with confidence. New players to the team all played well. Rosie was unstoppable, scoring 28 points! We won the game quite convincingly, 61-13.

Angel of the Match: Rosie Beel

6 February: Notre Dame
As always, Notre Dame proved tough opposition, and it was a very close game. Every time we got a few points ahead, they came back at us. We defended brilliantly, and finally managed to pull away in the last quarter. It was a tough game throughout, but we won 33-26. Rosie scored 10 points, Rio scored 10, mainly through excellent rebounding; Jess was successful with some strong drives to basket, scoring 8; Katie scored 2, and Francesca 3.

Angel of the Match: Jess Clegg for brilliant defence!
