The interest and involvement of people at home can be the deciding factor in a child’s education, and we strive to maintain an excellent level of communication between School and home.

Parents/Carers can access the latest information on their children’s progress by logging into the Learning Gateway. This covers attendance, achievements, behaviour, subject and tutor reports (hard copies of which will also be sent home periodically). Please contact the school if you need your login details for the Learning Gateway to be reset.

In the course of the school year, every student’s family will receive a full written report, and have the opportunity to attend at least one Parents/Carers’ Evening. Additional evenings are held for the parents/carers of prospective Year 6 pupils, our new Year 7 intake, Year 8 and 9 students considering their options for the following year, and for students in the Sixth Form.

There have been some changes to the way we set targets and track students’ progress, moving from the old National Curriculum Levels to a single system of numerical grades all the way through to GCSE. Please click here to download a current overview of assessment and tracking (pdf) at HHS, including an explanation of the progress expected in individual subjects.

For further detailed information about assessment and reporting, please download the guides below for parents/carers and students for Years 7-9 and KS4: Year 10 and Year 11.

You might also find it useful to refer to this glossary (pdf) which explains some of the terms that are often used when talking about the education system, but which might not always be very clear.
